FAQ: Allow me to share answers to some often asked questions.
1. BEFORE THE SHOOT AND ABOUT THE SHOOT
Q. Is there a pre-shoot consultation?
A. A pre-shoot consultation is compulsory. This can be done over the phone or in person. It is a time to get to know each other in terms of what you want out of the shoot. It is a time for questions and answers. Sometimes more than one consultation may be needed.
Q. How long would a shoot take and how much will it cost?
A. A minimum booking of 2 hours is usually required for ANY photography session. Weddings usually require a minimum of 3 hours. I charge depending on the complexity of the assignment and use of the photographs. Please feel free to contact me for a quote. All quotes are valid for 30 days only. Your deposit will secure the photography rate at the time of quote.
Q. How much and when do I give you the deposit?
A. A 50% non-refundable deposit upon booking any session is required. The deposit secures the quote and date. This is then applied towards your session fee and your order. Sorry, absolutely no refunds for cancellations or a no-show on your part. 30mins late is a no-show.
Q. Do you provide Hair and Make Up Artist services?
A. Yes, these are available. Let me know if you need this, as I will require a minimum 4 week advanced booking with a 50% deposit.
Q. How far in advance should I schedule a shoot?
A. At least 2 weeks in advance if not more. Weddings are scheduled usually a month or more a head of time.
Q. Where does the shoot take place?
A. Shoots can be done indoors, outdoors, or both.
Q. What if the weather isn’t ideal for the shoot or if I am unwell, can I reschedule the shoot date?
A. Of course you can reschedule it to the next available date and transfer the deposit to the new date. Sorry but you may only reschedule it one time. After which another 50% deposit will be required for the new date.
Q. Do you do TFP (Time For Prints) photography?
A. I always welcome talented models who would like TFP sessions. Please send details for consideration.
2. AFTER THE SHOOT
Q. When can I see the images?
A. Your photos will be available in your own private online gallery in approximately 7 days after your last shoot day. Some larger projects with hundreds even thousands of images will be viewed in batches over 21 days. This viewing service is included in any minimum 2-hour booking.
Q. How long do you keep my images online?
A. All images are kept online for a minimum of 3 months. Longer periods maybe arranged but it let me know before a quote is given to you.
Q. How do I order my images and what about shipping?
A. You may order any images anytime online as long as the images are still in your gallery. It is an automated 24/7 online viewing and ordering system. You can order as many photographs as you like. You may choose to share your gallery with anyone. They will be able to order photographs as well and have it shipped directly to them. This will relieve you of having to order photos for them and the logistics of sorting and mailing their photos to them. Prints will be shipped from a professional photography printing company in the mainland.
Q. Can I download the photo files?
A. No. All images are copyrighted. I do not release the electronic files for printing. Electronic files are only released when purchased. Please write to me and we can discuss the price. Depending on the type of file, prices vary for each file.
Q. How do I go about reproducing the photographs?
A. All reproductions are made through this website or printed by me. Alternatively, for commercial use, reproduction rights in the form of a one year limited use License may be purchased at an additional fee (usually factored into the original contract) which may be renewed on a yearly basis. With this License, the client may not sell, assign, or otherwise transfer this license, or any rights or obligations under this License without my prior written consent.
3. PAYMENT
Q. How do I pay you?
A. I accept cash and check for all deposits, shooting sessions, and any Photo Books. Credit Card is accepted for all online photo orders. Paypal payment is accepted. If you pay using your PayPal Balance, PayPal Instant Transfer or PayPal eCheck, there is no charge. Otherwise the following additional charges will be applied:
5% for domestic or U.S. transactions from Credit Card to Paypal.
7% for outside of U.S. transactions from Credit Card to Paypal.
5% for card payments received using PayPal on Skype.
Q. When do I pay you?
A. Due to the custom nature of my work and the extra hours put into it after the shoot to enhance each photograph, payment is due on the day in full BEFORE the shoot. This is normal for all commissioned photography work.
4. ABOUT MY ORDERS
Q. How much are photo prints and what sizes are available?
A. With the convenience of the gallery online printing service you can select any combination of photos and sizes. Online prints are only available up to 5"x7". All larger custom prints are handled by local professional printing labs.
Q. How long does it take to receive my online self ordered printed photos?
A. It really all depends on the size and number of prints. Photos which are smaller than 8"x10" are handled by a professional lab in Georgia and you have the choice how you want it shipped to you or your guest.
Q. How long does it take to receive my library bound photo book?
A. Photo Books are add ons and require graphic art work which takes time. Please allow 4 weeks for your Photo Book to be printed, bound, and shipped. Please note: The 4 weeks starts from your confirmation of the selected photos for the book. The 4 weeks is not from the time of the shoot.
Q. Can I "rush" my Photo Book order?
A. Yes, I have a ‘rush’ service at an additional charge of 50% of the cost of a Photo Book. You will be able to have you Photo Book in 2 weeks. Most of this goes to the premium paid for the Overnight or Next Day service.
Q. Besides Photo Books are Photo Albums available?
A. Yes, a full line of choices from 'ArtLeather' is available.
Q. Do you do large commercial printing?
A. Yes, Fujifilm Hawaii handles most of the large format graphic arts printing.
5. COPYRIGHT and MODEL RELEASE
Q. Can I copy or scan my prints?
A. All images are copyrighted by Federal Copyright Laws and copying of any kind is strictly prohibited. Professional photographs are similar to artwork and it is illegal to reproduce any image without specific written permission from the photographer/author Michael Ang of MAFotoGrafix.
It is ILLEGAL to scan, upload, or download any images in a computer without written permission. The minimum fine for scanning or copying professional images without written permission is US$30,000.00.
MAFotoGrafix retains copyright to all images and reserves the right to select, display, and or publish any image for marketing or other purposes.
In addition, for portrait and wedding photography, a Model Release Form will have to be filled out in full, signed, and the original copy returned to MAFotoGrafix before the day of the photo shoot.
